Weidmuller Special Application Thermocouple Blocks
These special application blocks are utilized specifically for the connection of thermocouple wire. Thermocouples generate a small electrical potential as a result of the temperature gradient at the junction of the dissimilar metals. In order to prevent the introduction of erroneous "cold junction" electrical potentials into the system, the engineer will often design the circuitry so that the same material is used for the wiring from the field all the way to the temperature transmitter or mV to Temperature conversion device.
Should the need arise to splice or connect two pieces of thermocouple wire together it may be advantageous to use terminations with materials of construction that match the materials in the thermocouple wiring. Weidmuller's Thermocouple Blocks fill this requirement. The current bars in the thermocouple blocks are constructed of the same material as the thermocouple wire. This eliminates the additional electrical potential that would have been created by the junction of dissimilar metals.
WDU-Style Thermocouple Blocks
The Weidmuller W-Series Terminal Blocks includes a special application block for use in Thermocouple (T/C) applications. The WDU-Style Thermocouple Blocks include thermocouple matching materials to insure there are no unwanted junction potentials introduced in the thermocouple wire. The WDU-Series thermocouple blocks are housed in the popular Weidmuller W-Series WDU 2.5 housing. These blocks are 5mm thick and fit onto standard TS 35 DIN Mounting rail. If a shield block is required, use a standard WDU 2.5 Terminal Block P/N 1020000000.
SAK-Style Thermocouple Blocks
The Weidmuller SAK-Style Thermocouple blocks use the moulding from the Weidmuller SAK-Series Terminal Block Product line and specifically the SAK 2.5 terminal block. There are 4 types of housings used: 1) Polyamide for TS32 Rail; 2) Polyamide for TS35 Rail; 3) Krg (or Melamine) for TS32 Rail; and 4) Krg (or Melamine) for TS35 Rail. In addition, these thermocouple blocks are available in single-pole, 2-pole, and 3-pole thermocouple block configurations. If you use a 2-pole block and desire a shield, use the matching Weidmuller SAK 2.5 terminal block.
DK 4Q_Style Thermocouple Blocks
The DK 4Q Terminal Block from the Weidmuller SAK Terminal Block Product Line is an Ideal housing for space-efficient installation of thermocouple terminations. This double-level terminal block includes material matching current bars to reduce unwanted bi-metal electrical potentials from thermocouple wiring. The top and bottom terminals are pre-marked to indicate the plus(+) and minus(-) polarity of the thermocouple leads. |
